Frozen pizza recalled after customers found pieces of metal

The company said it has received complaints of metal being found inside the product.

The Woodridge-based company is recalling more than 13,000 pounds of pizza that could be contaminated with the metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Sunday.

Home Run in Frozen Foods said food products "may be contaminated with external ingredients, especially metal," the USDA said.

No one has been confirmed injured after eating contaminated pizza.

The USDA said those who bought pizza should throw them out or return them. 

"The safety of our customers and the quality of our home run these products are paramount," Lowe said. "

According to the company's online product locator, Home Run in Frozen Pizzas are sold in a variety of Chicago grocery and convenience stores,

These include Jewel-Osco, Save-a-Lot, Target, Walgreens, Foxtrot, 7 Eleven and Food 4 Lace.
