Marylanders Have Little Time Left to Apply for the Student Loan Debt Relief Tax Credit
Marylanders have less than a month to apply for debt relief tax credits.The deadline for the state’s student loan debt debt relief tax credit program for the tax year 2022 is September 15.More than 40,000 Marylanders have received tax credits since the program began in 2017, and more than $40 million has been disbursed through the program.It is issued by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).Maryland Higher Education Commission will prioritize who will get a tax creditTo achieve this:-
- You don’t need to be a college graduate, but you must claim Maryland residency for the 2022 tax year and file a 2022 Maryland State Income Tax to be eligible.
- This program works by providing income tax credits for Maryland residents making eligible undergraduate or graduate education payments on loan from an accredited college or university.
- If you have attended a school outside the state, you are still eligible for a tax credit
- But you may not get as much of the huge amount as you went to Maryland school.
