Therefore, the government of Assam is not going to be satisfied with planting 10 million trees. The plan is to plant 30 million trees a day next year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a letter to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma congratulating him on the initiative of the ‘Amrit Vriksha Andolan’ He said the industry will protect the environment of Assam. In the long run, the health of the people of the state will improve. As Assam grows greener, the beauty of the state will grow even more.
 
Trees and forests are considered to be important in Indian literature and culture. The Prime Minister also mentioned that trees help in curing various diseases and keeping the air clean. “Our country’s economy is growing rapidly. Our country’s economy is growing at the fastest pace. We are committed to preventing and improving environmental pollution,” he said. He believes that the plan adopted by the Government of Assam to plant trees here will be followed by other states of India.

Tezpur University on Sunday, September 17, 2013 under the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Horticulture Department of the University planted 500 valuable trees till 12 noon and the photos were uploaded on the website of the Amrit Tree Movement.

“The tree planting program was made a success by Tezpur University under the strong leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Shambhu Nath Singh and Registrar Biren Das,” said Dr. SS Bhattacharya, Associate Professor, Department of Horticulture Therefore, the university received 500 tree seedlings from the district administration on behalf of the National Service Scheme and Horticulture Department of Tezpur University and planted them in two villages namely Amolapam and Napam as part of the university campaign The students took photographs of the tree planting program and uploaded them on the website of the Amrit Briksha Movement by 12 noon. He said the university family is very happy to participate in this programme.
  
The program was attended by Tezpur University Registrar Biren Das, Associate Professor of Horticulture Department Dr. SS Bhattacharya, Associate Professor of Sociology Department Amiy Kumar Das, Assistant Professor of Education, Dr. Hitesh Sharma, Assistant Horticulture Agricultural Girindra Hazarika and many other students.
